Hi! We are
Laura & Brian!
In 2023, we bought this piece of land situated right in the middle of small town America. We knew right away that this would be our home.
Our minds swarmed with ideas. We gradually started implementing those ideas, and began leaning into our new lifestyle. One that consisted of eating lots of freshly grown vegetables, a house always decorated with fresh cut flowers, food made with all-good ingredients, hard work, and sore muscles (haha).
In February 2025, we officially broke ground on our vegetable & flower gardens all while our new tiny-ish house was being built right next to them.
Over the course of 2025, our thicket-covered plot of land was converted into a lush garden full of fresh produce and flowers. All in our new backyard!
Of course, this didn’t all come without trials and tribulations. But we persevered, continued keeping on, and in August 2025 we opened our farm stand.
This is just the beginning, and I absolutely cannot wait to see how Dewy Acres evolves over the years.

Meet Laura
Hey! I’m Laura, and I grew up right here in Riesel, TX. I never dreamed of running a farm or farm stand, but looking back it all makes sense. Aside from my childhood of running around barefoot with the chickens and goats, I graduated from Texas A&M in 2014 with my Zoology degree. I’m thankful for my science background as it makes learning about soil health, pollinators, and other biological processes that much easier.
After undergrad, I graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy in 2019. While I may not practice pharmacy, I still am so appreciative of what I learned during those years. Understanding nutrition and how our body works definitely pushed me towards this lifestyle of growing our own food and clean eating. Also, the compounding background helps a ton to ensure I am making safe soap, lip balms, and other bath products.
I also have ran a food blog since 2018. I taught myself all the fundamentals of cooking by making hundreds of Julia Child recipes. I know how to develop recipes and the science behind why a good recipe works. This comes in handy when I’m in the kitchen cooking for the farm stand!
To my surprise, all of these past experiences come together to form the perfect combination. However, the farm is still a huge learning curve, and there is still so much to learn. Which I honestly love!
At Dewy Acres, I am doing all the things and each day is different- planting seeds, transplanting, harvesting, baking, making labels & tags, designing bouquets, finances, coming up with new product ideas.. just to name a few!
When I’m not doing farm chores, you can find me planning out our next 50 States by 50 trip, cooking dinner, or sipping hot tea on the couch.
Meet Brian
Hi, I’m Brian! I grew up in the Texas Panhandle. I also never dreamed I’d be running a farm or that I’d ever live in Riesel, but I’m glad to be here!
I graduated from West Texas A&M with a degree in Computer Information Systems which helps when it comes to all the technical work of the farm.
I am passionate about nature, creating a happy environment in the garden, no-till methods, and soil health.
At Dewy Acres, you can find me weeding, watching videos about permaculture, harvesting vegetables, taste testing recipes (most important work), helping open/close the farm stand, feeding the chickens, and broadforking the garden beds.
When I’m not farming, I am usually reading, eating, birding, or trying to figure out how we can get pigs on the farm.
